colpermin
Rated 4.3/5 based on 9 reviews
Colpermin contains peppermint oil, which is a natural anti-spasmodic. The capsules are enteric coated, which means that they dissolve in the intestines rather than the stomach, and therefore should provide the most benefit to IBS sufferers. Colpermin is used to help relieve intestinal spasms and cramps and help to relieve trapped wind. Colpermin comes in capsule form, and these are swallowed whole.
Colpermin side effects
The most common side effects of Colpermin are heartburn, irritation of the skin around the anus, allergic reactions including rashes, headaches, a slower heart rate, muscle tremors and balance and co-ordination problems.
REVIEWS OF COLPERMIN

I have had discomfort in the bowel for some 10 years following a bout of enteritis in Thailand. I cut out dairy and wheat which seemed to help as colitis is in the family. Being a single mum of two and divorcing, my problems got worse and my weight dropped. The docs spouted that with the stress of working full-time and a poor diet it was all IBS. Time and time again I have gone to the doctors trying to explain that the bloating and pain is severe...you can be two dress sizes larger by the afternoon sitting all day at a desk.
My weight this year doubled and Colofac (mebeverine) tablets have been prescribed and I have cut out all spicy foods, Indian, Chinese and chili, a nightmare if you are dating and dining! This year has been the worst, no sleep and the pain more severe than childbirth. It affects my work as I am in and out of the loo and driving life is no fun. I have given up swimming twice weekly and hill and country walking. The doctors show little or no sympathy.
I had tried Colpermin before but was on a weak dose. I tend to take a single tablet up to six times per day (after eating) or two tablets three times per day, and I have increased my water intake. It has changed my life in the last few weeks. I am able to go swimming again and long distance walking with my dog. I cannot tell you how much difference this makes to my life! I had been so depressed and my boyfriend had almost given up on me...now I am living again! Thanks Colpermin.

I was diagnosed with IBS and tried Colpermin. I started from a low dosage, one capsule twice a day, and then went to one capsule three times a day. I got a lot of relief, but after a time I got pain in the upper stomach just after eating. I still have this problem. Just after eating, I feel pain in the stomach, but it goes away quickly. I am not sure if it is a side effect of Colpermin or something else.

I was diagnosed by my GP with IBS after suffering months of severe bloating, abdominal swelling, constipation, anxiety attacks and sleepless nights. I was so tired and lethargic some days that everything was an effort. After trying dietary changes the doctor finally prescribed Spasmonal which just made me really ill.
The pharmacist advised Colpermin and the difference was incredible. My bowel movements became more normal, the awful feeling of fullness went, my whole body felt more relaxed. I have been sleeping like a baby and have so much more energy. I am due to see my GP again this week so have not used the tablets for just over a week just so that I could report any changes to him. Within days that old familiar constipation and bloating etc have returned. This is good enough proof that Colpermin definitely works for me.

Colpermin has been fantastic for me. I suffer from bloating, cramps and constipation interspersed with periods of diarrhea. After being told by the doctor that I had IBS I totally changed my diet, cutting out bread and greasy foods. It was really trial and error to find out what things upset my stomach. However, even with all these changes to my diet I still suffer the symptoms of IBS, not every day but still quite often.
A friend recommended Colpermin to me and I haven't looked back since, they are fantastic. I am never without a box of these in my handbag, they work within 15 to 20 minutes. I don't know what I'd do without them!

I am 25 years old and have had IBS for about 10 years. I tried Colpermin from my doctor and found that it did alleviate some of the symptoms such as the constipation and running to the toilet all the time. But the side effect was that, whatever I ate, within 10 minutes I would be sick or would be hovering over the toilet thinking I was going to be sick. I have since changed to Buscopan which is much better.

Colpermin is brilliant! I suffered for over a year with acute IBS. Lost sleep, anxiety, pressure on the bladder, embarrassment, lost interest in and enjoyment of life. I saw a consultant last month and he suggested Fybogel with either Colofac or Colpermin. I tried Colofac and it didn't help. In fact, it made me worse. I had tried Colpermin before I got the prescription. Now I get it on prescription too, along with Fybogel.
The combination of Fybogel and Colpermin is making my life much better. I am sleeping properly - waking up refreshed, without having woken up to or three times a night to go to the loo, or with pains/reflux. Early days for me so far and I hope I don't become immune, like others say on this site...The consultant said that there's a whole range of treatments though.
Before the consultant and the help he offered, I had no hope. My GP was pants. Told me to change my job, exercise more, and other stuff like that. I've already tried food changes etc. Not prepared to change my job as well. Now - I have hope! Happy days!

I've tried all sorts for IBS. Colpermin really does relax the bowel and it is the most effective product I've tried. Used in conjunction with a wheat-free diet my IBS has lessened by about 70%.

I have abdominal cramps on the right side which often also includes pain in my right thigh similar to period pain. One Colpermin tablet relieves these pains, usually within 10 to 15 minutes of taking it. It also reduces bloating which I regularly suffer from.

I have had dreadful IBS for many years. Last week I had to stop on the hard shoulder of the A1 with both children in the car in the pouring rain crying my eyes out with embarrassment as I needed the loo so badly.
On Saturday I went shopping in Manchester with my sister who is moving away and has been very poorly with breast cancer - we needed a perfect day. Guess what? Of course - my stupid stomach started playing up - violent cramps, urgency, the lot. She recommended Colpermin, but I dismissed it saying it wouldn't work. She made me buy some. It was like a miracle! The cramping and urgent feelings went away and we had a wonderful day.
We went out for Sunday lunch for mothers' day and then I had a two-hour drive home. Usually the combination of lunch and driving would be enough to make me ill again but I took the tablets as directed and was fine! I know it's early days but I feel as though I may have found something at last that works. Keeping my fingers firmly crossed!
